hirst & hirst is closing its doors in Oakham

hirst & hirst living is closing its doors in Oakham for the last time in July.  We’ve enjoyed our 3 years here but now feel it’s time for a change.  We need to clear as much stock as possible so that our garage at home doesn’t get even more cluttered! So watch this space for special offers – we’re offering 30% off with free delivery online.  If you’re ordering online, pop the code “movingon” in at checkout and you’ll get 30% off* and free delivery.  In store, mention this email and you’ll get 30%* off.  Just like that!  This code is valid until midnight on Monday 3rd June.  Then we’ll start offering discounts to all and sundry, so you’d better get in there first for the best pickings….

*Applies to items in stock only.  Bespoke items are excluded from the sale.

Bond is 50!

Well, the film franchise is anyway…  Our Typaprint Bond catchphrase prints have proved very popular here at hirst & hirst.  To celebrate the 50 year anniversary Stuart, the graphic designer at Typaprint (he’s a man who knows his old school comedy and cheesy films) has created some new prints in the series.

There’s a limited edition Bond girls print (Shown here with the original limited edition Bond print, both at £34 unframed)

and a series of first class stamp prints with the heads of the 6 Bond actors.

The stamps will be available as individual limited edition prints (500 x 400mm £33 each) or as a framed set of postcards.  (Postcards are still being printed so watch this space for those…)

These prints make a great gift for all those secret or not so secret Bond lovers out there.  Well, when the football conversation runs out in the pub, what else is there to talk about?

Fun in the park & Sunday shopping in Oakham

On Sunday 9th September 2012 Oakham will be hosting a series of events starting with a car boot sale from 9am in the Burley Road car park.

From midday in Cutts Close (the park next to the castle) there will be lots of fab things to do, such as

  • zorbing (rolling around inside a giant ball),
  • zumba (the fitness dance craze – go and jig along!),
  • volleyball,
  • Rutland Water Rescue Boat display (on dry land clearly),
  • penalty shoot in (that’s what it says on the literature – do you think they mean shoot out?),
  • bike repairs,
  • live music and refreshments.

At 3pm there’s a concert in the bandstand with Oakham Town Council band.  Sounds like an ideal opportunity to doze in the sunshine in the September sunshine….  Oh and did we mention that lots of the wonderful Oakham retailers, including hirst & hirst, will be opening on that Sunday?  We’ll be here from 11 – 4 (although if everyone is enjoying the sunshine and the band, we might shut up shop a bit earlier – it’s Andy’s birthday and a boy’s got to get a bit of cake!)

See you soon…
